The Malaysian Culture Group Events Planning Team is committed to organizing and providing a variety of events each month that showcase aspects of the arts, history, religion and culture of Malaysia and South East Asia.
We offer a monthly lecture series on a variety of subjects, some recent examples being:
Unity in Diversity: The Orang Asli of Peninsular Malaysia
The Baba and Nonya Culture
Malaysian Martial Arts & the Kris
Malaysian Names & Titles
FELDA – Transforming the Rural Economy
Thai Silk Production & Ikat
Zoroastrianism
We aim to provide events that celebrate the diverse cultures and festivals that make up Malaysia: Chinese New Year, Thaipusam, Deepavali, Hari Ryia, Japanese Girls Day.
Monthly Outings - can vary from visiting Temples, Dance Theaters and Galleries with private viewings from Artists, Religious leaders, Collectors of Artifacts and Textiles through to visiting Orang Asli villages, Plantations, Spice factories, Heritage sites, again, to name a few.
When possible, we like to offer a series called Travel Tips. This is usually a smaller event, hosted in someone's home, who has travelled somewhere in South East Asia and would like to present a talk and photos of their trip. This is a great way of showing another part of Asia, especially for those thinking of going there. A fun and relaxed morning and always with the support of the Events Team!
These Events are described in this website (just click on an event in the Agenda box on the home page or in the MCG Calendar), and also in our monthly Newsletter. You can then decide which [or all] events you wish to sign up for.
To book your place for one or more events, send an email to
with the name/s and date/s of the event/s, your name and mobile phone number, and we will confirm your registration/s as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you there!

. In the subject line enter the events you would like to participate in.
For most events monies will be collected on the morning of the event itself. It is thus very important to have the correct change on hand. Normally the cost is RM 15.00 for members, unless otherwise stated.
Waitlist: Events Planning follows a policy of booking places for events on a first come first served basis. If an event becomes full then a wait list is created and participants will be informed as soon as a place becomes available.
Cancellations: If for some reason you cannot attend a programme when you have reserved a place, please let the Events Planning Team know as soon as possible.
Refunds can only be given if Events Planning has 48 hours notice of a cancellation. Please note that some events have a cancellation time that is longer than 48 hours, which will be indicated in the event description. Where catering has been included in the event and cancelled members have not given 48 hours notice, they will be required to pay.
Eligibility: Please note that all events are for members first with some spaces available for guests at a cost of RM 25.00. In the case where Events are restricted by numbers, they will be open to members only. This will be stated in the event description.
Aside from visiting guests, those who attend 2 Events are then expected to become members of the MCG.
Event Participation: Members are kindly requested to arrive promptly for events. Please also turn off your cellular phones and refrain from talking during lectures and presentations. Where required, members are asked to dress appropriately in respect of the customs and circumstances of the day.
Your cooperation is much appreciated by the Events Planning Team. Thank you.
