The Malaysian Culture Group Events Planning Team is committed to organizing and providing a variety of events each month that showcase aspects of the arts, history, religion and culture of Malaysia and South East Asia.

We offer a monthly lecture series on a variety of subjects, some recent examples being:

  • Feminism in Islam
  • Knowledge and Status in Traditional Malay Culture
  • The tribes of Borneo
  • Heritage Conservation
  • Performing Arts
  • History and Customs of Peranikan Chinese
  • WAO - Violence Against Women
  • Alternative Therapies, to name a few.

Sometimes we are lucky enough to have International guest speakers/professors visiting KL, who will give a talk.

We aim to provide events that celebrate the diverse cultures and festivals that make up Malaysia: Chinese New Year, Thaipusam, Deepavali, Hari Ryia, Japenese Girls Day.

Monthly Outings - can vary from visiting Temples, Dance Theaters and Galleries with private veiwings from Artists, Religious leaders, Collectors of Artifacts and Textiles through to visiting Orang Asli villages, Plantations, Spice factories, Heritage sites, again, to name a few.

When possible, we like to offer a series called Travel Tips.

This is usually a smaller event, hosted in someone's home, who has travelled somewhere in South East Asia and would like to present a talk and photos of their trip. This is a great way of showing another part of Asia, especially for those thinking of going there. A fun and relaxed morning and always with the support of the Events Team!

Last but not least, we are also keen to provide, when possible, another informal morning of a Book Launch / Discussion / Reading, with the Author. Again, this takes place in someone's home and has proven very popular.

These Events are described in this website (just click on an event in the Upcoming Events box on the home page) ans also in our monthly Newsletter. You can then decide which [or all] events you wish to sign up for.

To book your place for one or more events, send an email to with the name/s and date/s of the event/s, your name and mobile phone number, and we will confirm your registration/s as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you there!
